Blood, Milk, & Fire: Re-Performance Art 1962-1977

Curated by Parker Thornton

Live representations of canonical works of performance art including Carolee Schneemann’s
Meat Joy, Ana Mendieta’s Untitled (Blood Sign #2/Body Tracks), Ana Mendieta’s Untitled (Chicken Piece, shot #2), Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece, Meredith Monk’s 16mm Earrings, Alison Knowles’ Make a Salad, and Abromovic/Ulay’s Imponderabilia.

The exhibit remarked upon the medium’s historical lack of documentation, and offered a possible solution to the irreducibility of performance art into other media such as film, photograph, or written documentation.
